The Wellness Inventory is the perfect program to help you institute a wellness focus in your private practices or medical center, create new profit centers, and help maintain positive relations with your patients. HealthWorld Online now offers a special program designed for health professionals, including nurses, social workers, physicians, PAs, and occupational therapists.

Supporting Patient Wellness

According to Hippocrates, the father of western medicine, the primary role of the physician is as educator. However, in the fast-paced 21st century, health professionals rarely have time to devote to educating their patients in living a healthy lifestyle.

Over forty years ago a young preventive medicine resident at Johns Hopkins, John W. Travis, MD, MPH, had a flash of inspiration that led him to help pioneer the modern wellness movement. He realized that rather than focus on treating patients, he wanted to focus on empowering people to be well. Dr. Travis subsequently opened the first wellness center in the US in 1975, and created the first wellness assessment, the Wellness Inventory, as a whole person intake for the center's clients.

Wellness Inventory is a whole person assessment program designed to help people gain insight into their state of personal wellbeing in 12 dimensions of wellness. The program offers guidance and tools to transform this new awareness into sustainable improvement in their lives, and a renewed sense of health and wellbeing. And best of all, the program can be taken in the comfort of the patient's own home and you will have access to their scores (with their permission).

Reporting, Engagement, Communication, Marketing and Coaching Tools

The Wellness Inventory provides a suite of tools to support a staff member or wellness coach in working with your patients. You will have access to reporting, coaching, engagement, communication, and marketing tools to facilitate one-on-one coaching, follow up, and to strengthen the practitioner/client relationship. Each tool also has a Help Desk Feature to explain how it works.

Individual Patient Reports: Administrative access to individual patient assessment results and wellness plans to facilitate 1-on-1 wellness coaching. Track progress for action steps, individual dimensions of wellness, and pre and post full assessment comparison. Patient reports also include message to client and note-taking features.

Engagement Reports: Follow level of engagement of your patients in the Wellness Inventory program including number of: full assessments completed, individual (of 12) dimensions reassessed, access steps created, action steps tracked, journal entries, and resources accessed.

Group Demographic Reports: Filter the aggregate reports of your patients' 12 wellbeing scores through on 8 demographic variables. Reports may be performed on both single demographic variables and multiple demographic variables. Demographics include age, gender, marital status, health status, frequency of exercise, dietary preference, education level and ethnicity.

Caregiver Wellbeing

Wellness pioneer John W. Travis, MD, MPH, who opened the first wellness center in the US in 1975 (Wellness Resource Center) and who created first wellness assessment (the Wellness Inventory), was also a pioneer in working with helping professional burnout. The Center's work in helping professionals to prevent or alleviate caregiver burnout, was shared in his book Wellness for Helping Professionals: Creating Compassionate Cultures, co-authored by Meryn Callander (Wellness Associates Publications, 1990).
